The article provides an important world view of the Bush legacy as seen from Asia. Bush's gross incompetency and desire to look the other way on civil rights violations has enabled China to greatly strengthen itself economically, diplomatically, and militarily.

We ignore China at our peril. They could be a strong ally or an overpowering adversary. Right now they hold the family jewels in their currency vaults.
