Relies on four political sources, two conservative and two liberal. There's some interesting information here that I hadn't thought of, such as Bush's connection with Enron.

While I generally like Marinnucci's work, I don't find this one of her better pieces. Is Whalen right about California's economy? Sure hasn't seemed so in my business, or in the economic figures I've read. California lead the nation for some years in unemployment and foreclosures. Is Troustine correct about the energy companies forcing Davis out of office? Certainly the energy crisis didn't help him, but here were other factors as Marinnucci, a long-time political reporter in the state, well knows.

This is an example of the difference between reporting and journalism to me. Marinnucci has the contacts to go out and collect quotes from various perspectives. But to simply stick them together with no verification or context does not add any journalistic value in my opinion.

Interesting summary of California perspective on the Bush presidency.

Justifiably or not, I suspect the arrival of a new administration will not likely impede the general ability to "kick George Bush around" for years to come.
