In 90’s, Burris Sought Death Penalty for Innocent Man

While state attorney general in 1992, Burris aggressively sought the death penalty for Rolando Cruz, who twice was convicted of raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl in the Chicago suburb of Naperville. The crime took place in 1983.

But by 1992, another man had confessed to the crime, and Burris’ own deputy attorney general was pleading with Burris to drop the case, then on appeal before the Illinois Supreme Court.

Good journalism. And it’s obviously accurate journalism because no one in his or her right mind could make this stuff up. Using this excellent article as a basis, criminal procedures ought to be immediately initiated against Burris.

Let’s see if I understand this: Blago’s choice to fill Obama’s Senate term—former Attorney General of Illinois Burris—continued his prosecution of a man for murder even after someone else had confessed to the crime? And the reason Burris did so was that he was running for governor? Blago—Burris. As my sainted mother used to say, water finds its own level.
