In my view, we in the news media have a responsibility to hold ourselves to higher standards if there is any chance that doctors and patients will act on the basis of our reporting. This story presents a well-researched opinion regarding the too-often low quality of reporting on health care topics that should be read by everyone who reads and/or writes health stories.

Since noting many problems with NewsTrust reviews of health care stories, starting with the lack of understanding of the very basic difference between health care accessibility and health care coverage and going on and on from there, I have become even more convinced that there is need for better reporting and better understanding of health care topics.
