If Gaza falls . . .

Israel’s siege of Gaza began on 5 November, the day after an Israeli attack inside the strip, no doubt designed finally to undermine the truce between Israel and Hamas established last June. Although both sides had violated the agreement before, this incursion was on a different scale. Hamas responded by firing rockets into Israel and the violence has not abated since then. Israel’s siege has two fundamental goals. One is to ensure that the ... Full Story »

This article gives a picture of the state of things in Gaza as a result of the Israeli blockade. This is a critical bit of background for viewing the present Israeli disproportionate attacks.

Clear account of the beginning of the current siege of Gaza and the degree of deprivation imposed on the Palestinians by the Israeli government.

Interesting that the Israeli government is justifying its assault on Gaza as retaliation for rockets fired into Israel from Gaza...when the rocket firings were in response to an Israeli attack inside the strip. There may be little point in quibbling over who started it...it is far more important to stop both the military assault and the economic siege now, before more innocent Palestinians and Israelis are killed or maimed, and more lives ruined.

Very fine report on the Israeli siege of Gaza. The author makes a strong case for believing the effort to crush Hamas has much to do with keeping the West Bank under Israeli control.

The US is incapable of acting fairly and impartially in the Middle East in any matter involving Israel, due to Aipac, corporate media, the packing of the think tanks with Jewish supporters of Israel, etc, etc. etc. Israel is putting its own long-term stability into serious question if it fails to get out of the West Bank and stop oppressing the Palestinians.

It sure appears that the Bush Adm gave Israel the go ahead to attack Gaza on NOVEMBER 5, once they saw that the presidency was going to a Dem. Shame on Bush for once again,, standing by while the Israelis are sealing off all borders of the Gaza strip and keep out food, medicine and fuel...in essence, starving women and children. Why do U.S. media not report that ISRAEL not Hamas fired the first rockets? Obama will treat this kind of situation more fairly and attempt to keep the ... More »
