Posted by Rebecca HaleThis is an interesting story, not because it informs my opinion of Cheney but because of what it tells me about those who commented.
opposing viewpoints here not surprising regarding such a controversial and publicly unknowable person. the opinion most resonating among them apparently is 'the potential leverage...by a man who brings a firm "theory of gov't" to high office...particularly when coupled with...pres. bush, who does not'. missing here is a mention that that may well have been precisely the point of the ticket
I find it extremely difficult to see Cheney as a victim of anything other than his own overwhelming hubris. He suffers from extreme stubborn certainty of his ideas and even "facts" that are usually demonstrably wrong.
This is a good concept - ask people from widely diverging "points of view" to comment on Cheney's legacy.
