Scientists Hack Cellphone to Analyze Blood, Detect Disease, Help Developing Nations

A new MacGyver-esque cellphone hack could bring cheap, on-the-spot disease detection to even the most remote villages on the planet. Interesting but short article about a new technology advance from UCLA scientists, which promises to to turn a cell phone into an inexpensive blood tester. The article appears factual, but provides insufficient sourcing or context. On the other hand, it includes links to Prof. Aydogan Ozcan's website, as well as photographs of his invention. His innovation has the potential to bring about social change to millions of people in developing nations.

And who say's American ingenuity is dead. A good article informs, and this one does.

This is an outstanding invention that could in the long term save millions of lives. My hat's off to the scientists at UCLA.
