The article reflects the fact their are urgent problems in the environment and biosphere, but seems to assume the solution is purely military interventions. One does not carry a knife to a gun fight, but one can focus on defusing and preventing the gun fights.

Carry a big uzi, but try to make in an un-uzied uzi. Much of the environmental destruction is enabled by corrupt bribed officials; address that. Much of the pressure for survival is caused by overpopulation; address that. Much of the armed conflict is amplified by huge US exports of arms to tyrants; address that. Use of animal parts for medicine is due to gross ignorance; address that. Maybe a better meme would be not to carry an uzi to a fight against bacteria and fungi...
