'Karl Rove's IT guru' Mike Connell dies in plane crash

A top level Republican IT consultant who was set to testify in a case alleging GOP election tampering in Ohio died in a plane crash late Friday night.

Michael Connell -- founder of Ohio-based New Media Communications, which created campaign Web sites for George W. Bush and John McCain -- died instantly after his single-prop, private aircraft smashed into a vacant home in suburban Lake Township, Ohio. Full Story »

The article discusses various aspects about how the electronics could be manipulated to obtain a favorable outcome Republicans needed. It ends with a question about how a this experienced, competent pilot ran out of fuel. Then there's a comment about him feeling threatened.

The subjects of manipulation of Ohio election results and Connell's plane crash are deserving of thorough investigative reporting. However, I'd like to see something more than guilt by association such as "they shared the same server." As another reviewer remarked, though, muckrakers can play an important role.

This appears to be a well written story that limits itself to computer information regarding some of the current 2004 Ohio election issues and other Republican issues.

The examination of the plane crashes that have destroyed those the neo-cons wanted out of the picture is an essential function of journalism.

I have met several of those involved in the investigation of Connell in Ohio.

The author makes some valid points concerning voter registration fraud, but the other?

Stranger things have happened. While this snake of a man would do anything to advance his agenda, I would not want to start conspiracy theories (unlike the man himself) against him. umh Stranger things have happened?
