Unfortunately, this material is pre-election. It is an irreverent assessment of Huckabee as presidential material, showing two sides; a compassionate populist with a quirky sense of humor but also a small time preacher man risen above his competency level. Matt Taibbi exposes his fundamentalist views of Armageddon, and actions as governor, on evolution and abortion, and his arguably unethical abuse of political position.

This still is relevant to an analysis of the electorate. Compassion for the poor among us, and recently concern for stewardship of God's planet, hitched to Evangelical zeal taps a potent political vector.

The troubling thing about Huckabee’s God rhetoric is that a man who is glad that Christians will “win” at Armageddon must be happy about the rest of us losing.
