This seems like a long essay that was compressed to op-ed length. While I find the claim believable, the author offers little evidence to show that Muslims have "signed up for the American Dream." Not a bad piece, but it could have been much more compelling.

Informed, insightful analysis of the current risk of major Al Qaeda attack in US any time soon. Well-reasoned and supported by information about improved security measures and the virtual absence of concrete terrorist plots or acts since 9/11. Bergen does not dismiss the long-term threat, but comes to a well-reasoned conclusion that "the likelihood of a terrorist attack on the United States again in its (the Obama administration's) early days by Al Qaeda is close to zero."

Comforting conclusion--reassuring at a time when I am deeply concerned about reaction against Obama by America's radical racists.
