"Time" loves these kinds of "best" stories, along with its person of the year feature. To readers looking for some kind of continuity among the stories--there ain't any, other than all ten are have religion somewhere as their subject. Interesting, but so what?

Any politician serious about becoming successful in America must pause at the shrines of religion periodically along the campaign trail. America is child-like in its religion and demands its leaders have the appearance of being religious. An idiosyncrasy which continues to astound and bemuse most of the world which has a more pragmatic relationship with its religion.
