Republicans hit new low

(Blog Post) Well, Republicans have hit another low, and not just in terms of their behavior (more about that later!). I mean they've hit a new low in the number of Republicans.

According to a new poll, only 20 percent of people identify themselves as Republicans. So either there aren't many Republicans, or a lot of Republicans are trying to hide the fact that they're Republicans. 20 percent! The party that's been acting like a fringe party is rapidly ... Full Story »

Rhodes makes her points with irony and humor. However, more of a comedy piece than commentary.

Her story shows that Rhodes is an entertainer, not a journalist. The tipoff begins with her gross generalizations about the "new poll," which she doesn't bother to identify. Glenn Beck often loves to declare he belongs to no political party. So using him as an example of Republican abuses is unfair. And referring to his "baby fat" is simply juvenile snarking.

Partisan report about challenges facing the Republican party. This blog post fails to attribute the source of the poll, and makes some pretty bold assertions that are not substantiated by facts. But the biggest issue from my standpoint is that the author doesn't fairly or respectfully present opposing viewpoints, offering instead a distorted view of the real world to match her viewpoint. For example, there is no evidence that Anita Dunn's reference sto Mao and Mother Teresa were 'ironic', judging from the clip played by Glenn Beck, she was very serious about these references. (I am not in any way condoning Glenn Beck, who also has serious problems of his own, just pointing to the evidence cited on his show). In any case, this is ... More »

Randi reports the facts, but also makes no bones about the fact that this is an opinion piece with a distinct point of view. Having a point of view is not a problem in reporting newsworthy issues, as long as the opinion is based on true facts or a true representation of the fact. The problem is when an opinon commentator pretends to be reporting the straight news and is, in fact, making up facts in addition to taking a political viewpoint.

Terrible just absolutely terrible piece of journalism which is a stretch identifying this as journalism. Just an offensive opinion piece with facts that seem as if they are pulled right out of no where.

I have to say that I completely disagree with this blog. I question the credibility of the statistics given. None of the statistics were even backed by with sources of where they were obtained from. This blog was more fantasy than it was a reality.

Like many liberals, (see the Keith Olberman extract) Randi has latched on to the Republican 20% mark as evidence that the party is in demise. This is wishful thinking. In real races such as the Virginai governership or Harry Reid's semate seat the GOP is extremely competitive. The 20% mark is only part of the story and the rest is not presented in this article. Also she goes on to claim that Glen Beck is misusing the Anta Dunn reference to Moa. "It's obvious to anyone .... that Dunn's reference is supposed to be ironic." Well while the link of Mao and Mother Teresa was intended to be ironic the actual description of Mao's views did not seem ironic to me. Her point about "Pick you own fights and do it your own way" could have ... More »

Anyone with just a little bit of brain activity knows not to admit to being a Republican. The previous Administration helped the Democrats so much more than anyone could have hoped for. Good going, it's about time. Change has come, it will flip back again, it always does, but for now this is great.
