Christine Fair presents among other things the view that both India's treatment towards Muslims by the Hindu population has been deplorable. Additionally it points out both Pakistan and India have supported violence against each others religious groups.

Neither India nor Pakistan have social histories of which they can be proud with regards to tolerance. While India is progressing economically, these old ghosts may derail their movement towards the 21st century. Lets hope Pakistan can eventually enter at least the 19th C. and look positively as well towards their own futures. Religeous Extremism on either side is a detriment.
