Turning reality, truth inside out

OUR OPINION: With exit in view, Bush, Rice push revisionist history

In a speech last week, Mr. Bush said the Middle East is a freer, more hopeful place today than when he took office in 2001. He said the threat from terrorist groups like al Qaeda has been curtailed and that Iran faces greater pressure from the international community than ever before. Mr. Bush described his Mideast policies as ``ambitious in vision, bold in action and firm in purpose.''...

Mr. Bush's vision may have been ambitious and his plan ... Full Story »

The media play a crucial role in not only reporting the news, but in creating a record for future generations to consider as time blurs reality. This editorial is concise, to the point and comes at a time when some are spinning the Bush history even while we are still living it.

Even as damning as this piece is, it is still kind given the facts.

Had Bush not chosen to ignore the Middle East and concentrate on the former Soviet Bloc, 9/11 may never have happened. The failures in forgien policy are only exceded Bush'sd failures in domestic policy.

Good quick read, with Miami Herald attacking G W Bush and Condi Rice for their totally deceptive recent narratives about what took the US into the Iraq War. The editorial claims that Iran has impeded US peace initiatives in the Middle East.

The Iraq War was and is a catastrophe caused by astounding incompetence on the part of Condi Rice and G W Bush. The CIA had ample convincing evidence Iraq posed no threat whatever to the US and no WMD, months and even years before the invasion was launched. Iran opposed the invasion because civil war was the all too likely result to expect, and the US ignored Iran's warnings on this score. Iran wants peace in the Middle East and minimum justice for the Palestinians. Iran is not ... More »

Stories of the hunter and the lion will always much glorify the hunter until lions learn to write. We are used to the lyin' by bush, but this opinion shows what has been rare courage in publicly debunking the lying. Did they opine this in 2001-2003? The opinion is well written, but could have been even stronger. And earlier.

They were not the victims of bad intelligence, they were extremists in creating and defending the bad intelligence. Remember Valerie Plame? Remember the Downing Street Memo? Remember the big metal for Tenet? Remember the lies about Saddam chasing out the UN inspectors when Bush did that to invade? This has been treasonous and deserves impeachment.

Even though the article is an editorial (opinion) it would have been nice (and educational to some readers) if some of the claims would have been sourced.

A great story on the revisionist history that Bush and his cohorts are trying to spout to all the television and magazines that will let them.

When Clinton left office he said history would judge him. It has. Besides the "affair", histories treating him damn good, Bush hasn't left office yet, and already he's trying to place blame for the wars on the CIA, and this one I can't even phantom, he's blaming the recession on Clinton, and two years of it on his on his own father. How low can you go.

The writer neglected to write anything about the opportnity cost of this unnecessary war and occupation; that is, what we have given up, in order to take our eye off the ball. 1) we have broken our military and because of that, we are more vulnerable to any attack at any time. 2) we have caused tens of thousands (perhaps a million or more) to be killed and driven from their homes. 3) we have allowed Iran and Korea to develop nuclear power, while we were mired down in Iraq. 4) we have squandered most of the good will we had from the rest of the world after 9/11. 5) we have caused the most serious financial crisis in this country since the Great Depression, and continue to put 10-12 billilon dollars a month into Iraq. 6) ...
