This is quality journalism for many reasons. It is well written and thorough. It is well linked and makes extensive reference to the history of the story. It is a crucial subject, and its tone is urgent without being strident. Finally, it is about journalism in these times when the threat to good journalism is mounting.

Unless writers such as Diane Farsetta, David Barstow, and Glenn Greenwald are read, and such organizations as the Center for Media and Democracy, FAIR, and Brave New Foundation are supported, I expect ever greater consolidation of the military, the corporations, the government, and the media. There is no way for democracy to survive in that environment.
