This isn't even remotely journalistic. It is unabashedly a propaganda piece with an objective. Linking a speech that Jennings made in 1997 where he praised Hay for work in 1948, but failing to mention any of that is about creating news - not reporting it. This is a paid hit piece, period ... and Hannity - that's what he does for a living - paid TV hits. Lest, we forget about he shameful FOX-GOP stunt regarding Teri Schiavo and 100's of other vignettes produced via Fox News. I'm all for free speech - but this isn't an individual free speech issue - this is a giant corporation that profits from the least intellectually endowed and convincing them to oppose things that are in their own best interests. There must be a reason right? - Indeed - profit.

I can't fault Sean Hannity as an entertainer - he does what he is told to do and earns very serious money doing it. He has done it for years - and irrespective of his lack of credentials, his poor command of the English language and his bravery to pose as a journalist - he is a cash cow for FOX and he attracts a demographic that find his shortcomings ... a draw. This is corporate journalism at its best - doing all the thinking for its viewers and then broadcasting opinion as fact. Their mission - selling products advertised on their shows. Their method - creating a counter-universe so that the argument is more important than the resolution. This is the Murdoch meets Ailes at its finest. It is extremely sad when I see that people that I care for have been sucked into this very dour world of propaganda and believe it's actually news. I may like and love them - but many are terminally misinformed because of their laziness to actually read a newspaper or think independently. It was the first rule of Ailes branding - get them hooked. As a business ... incredible marketing. As a public service ... well the mere fact that they were the sole sponsor and touts for the 'Tea thingies' speaks volumes. You would be amazed what people say that have weaned themselves off of the Fox programming - try it. One doesn't have to hate FOX, in fact, once you change your viewing away from FOX you'll find you use the word hate considerably less.
