Realities of the Conflict - Between Islam and Unbelief

In the Name of Allah ... The third thing I wish to talk about is a message to the Democrats in America.

I tell them: you must realize two facts.

The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost: rather, the Mujahideen - the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq - are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who ... Full Story »

I normally would not submit such an unreasonable call to arms on NewsTrust, as it is clearly not journalism. And yet the strength of Zawahiri's hatred for Western culture and his uncompromising religious fervor against "the Crusaders" make this open letter newsworthy in its own right. As the author of this horrifying message, Zawahiri violates all the rules of civility and fairness that NewsTrust stands for. And yet the Institute for Counter-Terrorism deserves credit for republishing this important document. For that reason, I have kept my rating in the mid-range, because I believe other members would enjoy reading this edifying piece.

While this cannot really be called "journalism" per se, it does provide some insight into a radical Islamist viewpoint. The transcription is also so long that extensive study would be needed to truly analyze or even understand some of the points. For this reason, I recommend reading the analysis by Laura Mansfield, even more so than the transcription itself.

This isn't journalism! It's a polemic--structured as a sermon--arguing for the expulsion of Jews from Israel and all Westerners from the middle east. "The recovery of every land which was once a land of Islam is the personal duty of every Muslim." This language about the personal duty of Muslims is a hallmark of the Sunni understanding of Sharia -- Muslim Law.

Hardly good journalism. While it purports to describe a realistic perspective on events, the scope of history is ignored. The real battle on Earth is between the people who like using guns and those of us who like humanity. It always has been that way and the battles between the gunnies are a red herring. Civilization has progressed in spite of the people who would use force, not because of them. Don't get me wrong, without force the sabretooths would rule the earth, force is needed, but it is not the great mover. The Democrats have brought, for the momment at least, a more evolved and civilized voice to American politics. The battles in the Middle East will continue with us or without us and end when the people there decide to ... More »

All this energy wasted on hate and greed by all sides in this conflict and all will lose except the entrepreneurs of War, who will sell to both sides and laugh all the way to probably a neutral Swiss bank. Is this call to war speech really all that different in purpose than the firebrand warnings against the Axis of Evil, or whatever the buzz word of the week is, given so eloquently by Western leaders, Religious or Secular? Context is remarkably similar to American revolutionaries in the late 18th century.
