A good opinion piece based on whats known to date about Mumbai's most recent attack. The face of terrorists are often a surprise, but in then end of little consequence. It is however not the first attack in Mumbai, a series of attacks took place there around 5 years ago. They were very bad as well.
On 24 August, two powerful bomb blasts, with explosives concealed in two taxis in crowded areas of the city of Mumbai killed at least 50 people and injured over 150. Nine bombings in as many months has left almost a 100 people dead, and some 200 injured and put Mumbai in the midst the longest-running terror offensive any major Indian city has ever encountered. Bombs have gone off with alarming regularity in trains, buses and marketplaces.
Violence in India is nothing new, old social divisions are often replaced by new ones. Usual based in superstition i.e religion and/or money.
It is always interesting to speculate on the causes of these events, it is much to early yet to know much other than mislead impressionable cowards killed for others and died doing it. India is in its greatest period of equalization of wealth and education in it's history, this horrid tragedy will have no effect I hope. In the end we'll learn how these miscreants got trained, funded and assisted within India. More attacks will likely follow.
