This well written analysis of the election ties the event into the giants of past politics in the United States. The placing of the election event in the history of progressive social politics is well done.

No movement begins with the day it wins, there are countless souls lost and forgotten and Ortiz causes us to pause and remember the good fight that brought "overnight, out of nowhere" victory.

Lincoln and Roosevelt were both seen as divisive reformers, yet they were able to go on to greatness. My prayers are that Obama will rise to the challange.
