Brief account of what is currently discussed in Washington concerning the war in Afghanistan. This intelligent and informed article gives some hints that there will still be serious problems to "secure" Afghanistan even if the U.S. will send 40,000 more troops.

I think those administration officials are right who see the major problem in Afghanistan in the fact that this country does not have a "relatively stable" central government, one that is accepted by the majority of Afghans as their own and as working on their behalf.

Afghanistan is not Iraq.. there are unique challenges in Afghanistan.
