This is a "teaser" article excerpt from Hawkins new book. In this short article (the book introduction?) he provides the overall arguement for a non-god created universe without providing any of the supporting information on the specific theories of cosmology that support his hypothesis. The flesihing out is important , but that is why I will get and read the book when my local libraary gets it.....it did get my interest

Stephen Hawking may very well understand why God did not create the universe, but if he does, he did not convey that knowledge in this very brief artcle. He spent most of the article explaining why people throughout history have thought that there was some intelligent designer who created the universe, but then simply asserts that a designer is not necessary because "the laws of gravity and quantum theory allow for universes to appear spontaneously from nothing."
