This is a very strange human-interest story. The reporter has a great subject, a self-taught photographer who has become the Ansel Adams of the National Christmas Tree. Yet there are no questions about photography, how he grew as a photographer, improving composition, lighting techniques (night shots are challenging, etc. You don't have to work for Petersen's Photographic to get a few questions. Dwyer focuses almost entirely on the tree; and not the artistic human being who had the vision to do the project. Nor is the editor any better. One of the best parts of the story was how the artist took this around to nursing homes; yet no picture of him showing it in the nursing home! This piece was an "evergreen," not a breaking ... Beautiful Human Interest story. I thank Autumn for submitting it, I would probably never have seen it otherwise. I now declare Mr. Nielson as the Official Official national Christmas Tree Photographer. Do what you do, well with all your heart. You never know how important your endeavor will turn out be. Or secondarily, what recognition you might receive from your efforts
