The Pakistan test

I've never found Pakistanis so gloomy. Some worry that militants, nurtured by illiteracy and a failed education system, will overrun the country or that the nation will break apart. I'm not quite that pessimistic, but it's very likely that the next major terror attack in the West is being planned by extremists here in Pakistan. Full Story »

Kristof, reporting from Pakistan, gives us good information I was not aware of (e.g. the bad ministerial picks by Zardari), and presents thoughtful suggestions on what the US can do help Pakistan out of it's "Decent into chaos".

it's nice to read a well written story from someone who knows the area,people, and politics.

while I think Pakistan looms as a great threat to America, Israel, and the rest of the area, we've thrown billions of dollars at Pakistan, and to show for it we have a country where we can't walk the street without fear. I believe Barach Obama must pay alot of attention to Pakistan, but there are other problem spots in the world where Obama's attention is needed. Why these needless wars are going on , global economical situations must take priority if Pakistan will survive . America ... More »
