An important economic heads up , well presented, clearly offering a viewpoint we often don't see or hear much about. A budding close relationship between these countries is VERY significant. While this looks like a political story, it IS an economic one in reality. Russia needs Venezuela more than the other way around.

This might be Pres. Elect Obama's first important economic and political hurdle, or at least part of it. Chavez has been vilified in the press and is openly Anti the Current US Government under Bush. Russia is in huge economic trouble, lets hope President Obama has some ideas for CHANGE with this dynamic. Energy stabilization is Crucial for the US Economy and the world to recover quickly. Perhaps Chavez can be convinced by Obama we might be better long term friends than Russia.

This story suggests that Russian business dealings with Venezuela somehow are intended to annoy the US.

Russia has every right to enter into business dealings in Venezuela, and if the Venezuelan president is gratified by joint naval maneuvers, so be it.
