Good update on Israel's failed strategy of trying to strangle Hamas by isolating the Gaza Strip from the outside world.

Israel and the US have been consistently foolish in trying to undermine Hamas when Hamas is a fact of life both countries need to learn to deal with.

Mr. Nissenbaum was right own. When you have all the bullets you could at least talk a good game.

For the life of me, I can't think what Isreal and the U.S. were thinking for calling for an election "before" the votes were known. In most U.S. policy, they know the scenerio before the mock election. What did they think would happen if the other side won? Did they think the Isreal's would be greeted as liberations as we were in Irag?

When you advocate the destruction of the hand that feeds you the hand has the option of cutting off your food. Hamas has voted for war. A blockade is a tactic of war. Hamas is in a precarious political position. It can't renounce war because that is what its supporters want. So they will get the misery that goes with their choice. The article does a pretty good job of explaining the dynamics.
