McConnell warns Reid to give GOP input

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday sent a message to Democrats that Republicans are not prepared to bend to a stronger majority.

In letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), McConnell urged Reid to adopt a more conciliatory tone and warned him that Republicans will unite against Democrats if he does not. The story provides a view into the incredible chutzpa of McConnell. The quotes of the parties are mostly presented neutrally and without comment or nuance. Still the chutzpa is obvious.

When republicans had majorities in the congress democrats could not even get rooms for meetings, let alone ammendments to bills. In the current congress, the Republicans have been obstructionists and unwilling to compromise. Republicans have destroyed the national honor, the constitution, the economy, have lost the elections and now they want to tell Reid what to do.

McConnell is reported to have led 104 filibusters in this year's Congress, that with a Republican administration. To expect any thing other than obstructionism from him is unrealistic. As a Kentuckian I was extremely disappointed that Bruce Lunsford was unable to unseat McConnell. I think that race should have received much more attention from the Democrats much earlier in the race as one of the most important Senate races in the country. Too late now...
