The same kinds of conditions have been present in, socialistic cultures, communistic cultures, feudalistic cultures, not on this scale because there was no such scale before. Assumes Capitalism is in a struggle with "Democratic Socialism" and provides a link that provides definitions of "Democratic Socialism" that render the term meaningless.
Communism, Capitalism, Socialism, Monarchy, Dictatorship, or some combination thereof have been around for a very long time. All have committed atrocities, none have endured for long. Oligarchies on the other tend to be more brutal and enduring. Ulama ( sharia law ) , College of Cardinals( Catholic ) ,until 2009 The House Of Lords UK, the US Supreme Court US. Most of his examples of excess had more to do with the policies of the legal system rather than elected officials.
