HRC for Secretary of State?

The political world has been roiling with news that Senator Hillary Clinton [D-NY] is likely to be offered the plum job of Secretary of State in an Obama administration and the further news that she is almost certain to accept the offer. This opinion piece looks at Senator Clinton's obvious qualifications for the job of Secretary of State versus the complications former President Clinton may represent. He expresses my thoughts exactly.

This is entertaining journalism, but it would have to contain far more solid supporting facts to make it quality journalism. Accusing Colin Powell of being a desk jockey Sec. of State is a stretch if he can't compare his effectiveness with other folks in that position who traveled more. The arguments for and against Hilary are simple rehashes of other reports that have already appeared in mainstream magazines, like the New Yorker and Atlantic. If it weren't so derivative it would be quite good for it's conversational style.

Hillary Clinton is seen as good choice for secretary of state, given that she is hard-working, quick-learning and willing to travel.

I much prefer John Kerry. Hillary has been in effect the mouthpiece of Aipac on Middle East issues. Her lack of understanding of Iran and the Iranians is dangerous.
