This story, while fair to both sides, barely scratches the issue, and concentrates only on the contemporary reactions. It raises more questions than it answers.

Prop 8 is a shameful example of social intolerance by a country that touts the myth of "freedom for all." Worse, it shows how ridiculously easy rights of a people can be abrogated. And it's a graphic demonstration of the power of outside big money by religious groups that mounted expensive anti-Prop 8 campaigns. It’s one thing for Christianity preach the gospel; it's quite another for Christianity to go about lobbying.

Interviews were conducted on both sides of the debate on Prop 8 in California. The article is balanced and informative but does not convey a sense of the upheaval and divisiveness this proposition has caused.

It is more than gay activists who are organizing to overturn this proposition. Many feel that a simple majority should not overturn the state's constitution and that everyone should have equal protection and not be discriminated against. There was a lot of misinformation and lies told by the Yes on 8 campaign and that fuels some of the outrage.
