Cocco captures the social economic plight of the descending middle class during the last 30 years, as she writes her exit opinion piece.

To break the back of the corrupt campaign finance and lobbying systems, critical steps would include publicly financed elections. Publicly financed inaugurals would also help. And these things need to be done without any leadership from the corrupt politicians who have prospered under this corruption.
