Obama's Afghanistan Plan

The good news, though, is the talk of a "regional approach." While it's just silly to say that the Bush administration is still treating Pakistan and Afghanistan as separate issues, they certainly seemed to do that far too deep into this process. Certainly, Obama will be much more likely to bring Iran and Syria into the mix. Whether he can ultimately be successful is another question entirely. But it's certainly worth trying. Full Story »

Fair, even handed analysis of Barack Obama's Afghanistan strategy drives this piece. Concise, though not full of new information. The prediction that Obama would involve Syria and Iran -- one of the differentiating features of his plan -- deserved to be backed up.

Nothing really new here. A real problem with prognostic articles like this is that at such an early stage, even before Obama has even taken office, one cannot know the impact unknown forces will have on any plan.
