A brief, well-written profile of the distrustful atmosphere that has arisen around first amendment rights. A commentary on post-9/11 America without having to make that point explicit.

I always like anything that reminds people of their civil rights. No mention is made that the viewpoint of those who object to the pictures was even sought.

It is good journalism because it reports a little-known aspect of a serious and growing problem in our increasingly authoritarian society, where the highest in the land try to keep too many secrets. It achieves this with a succinct account of one man's experiences.
