The article focuses on the possible GOP presidential candidates--those we currently know about--who could run in 2012 and provides information about their relative strengths. Missing is any mention of the GOP civil war that's looming between moderates and right wingers.

Having just come into the sunlight from the turmoil of two excruciating Silly Season years, it’s almost too much to speculate about another Silly Season lurking somewhere ahead. What everyone should realize is that 2012 will be a different world from today. And an entire new crop of candidates could emerge long before then.

Martin cites a lot of savvy political watchers, and shows a lot of moves that tend to support his argument.

I really hope he's wrong though. After two years of presidential politics, I'm not sure I could stand any more for a good long while. Though the media would be overjoyed, I'm less sure about the rest of us.

The story is mostly conjecture, but it is cautionary.

The party of, by, and for large corporations run by rich white males is in the wing and hungry for power. That fact is a warning to make bottom up democracy work now that a door has opened.
