An important story because it has to do with a church using its power, financial and otherwise, to influence political outcomes. I would have appreciated more discussion as to the legal limits of such activities on the part of religious organizations, especially as it relates to their 501c3 tax-exempt status. If gay activists really do vow "no more Mr. Nice Gay," this may be an avenue worth exploring.

I am close friends with a gay couple, two men together for 18 years now and both former Mormons. The LDS Church has been guilty of unspeakable crimes against gay Mormon youth--such as forced "re-education" that was done under Church auspices and which included showing straight and gay porn to boys as young as 15, with IV feeds that induced either euphoria or vomiting so as to "cure" them through aversion therapy. I say yank their 501c3 status--the Catholic Church began to cleanse itself of its pederasts only after the Church felt the pain of multi-million dollar lawsuits.
