This is a factual accounting of a major oil conglomerate's decision to withdraw from wind power and carbon sequestration projects in the UK. It also provides a broader picture of the economic players in the alternative energy field in the EU, profitability comparison with similar projects in the USA, and BP's contention that they cannot profitably compete for the UK project.

This story is thorough as far as it goes. It would be useful to follow with a look at the costs of NOT pursuing alternative energies at this time. Also of interest: BP's profits for the past year or so.
