The whole Palin thing, though, worries me. I take people like George Will and Christopher Buckley and Colin Powell at their word when they say the selection of Palin was very troubling to them. This article is more coherent than many of the other republican introspections following the elections. But it is more about loyalty, figurehead leaders, and historical numbers of winners than any substantive issues.

Perhaps they need to accept a pacifist colored intellectual atheist scientist and constitutional scholar as an advisory guru on their rebuilding plans. Get some chutney to go with the old standard kool-aid.

This is a rambling but otherwise well written exploration of what the election results mean to Republicans, the role of Sarah Palin, the wisdom of excommunicating Republicans who are troubled by Palin, etc. Introspective and interesting.
