Sort of a confusing piece as Simon claims McCain has "found his voice," and then shows some of his campaign missteps. For those who think the campaign reflects the candidate as well as the speeches, Simon's piece will be an unconvincing argument.

I noticed something about McCain's voice last night--and not for the first time. Simon's quotes highlight part of it. While Obama talks constantly about "we" and working together, McCain chants "fight, fight, fight" and his big applause line is "the Mac is back!"--referring to himself. He throws in a few references to his audience or his fictional everyman Joe. But, like governor Palin, his speeches are largely about himself.
