This Is the Khalidi Obama Embraced

Many others have surmised that the Los Angeles Times is running interference for Barack Obama, declining not just to provide the tape of the Rashid Khalidi goodbye event which Obama attended in 2003, but a complete transcript. It is reasonable to ask what could have been so bad about the event. What could possibly have been so objectionable about the speeches or proceedings that might concern voters at this late date?

Well, the original Times ... Full Story »

This report on Barack Obama's relationship with Rahid Kahlidi makes some serious claims about the presidential candidate, which it fails to document in this article. This is a classic example of "journalism of assertion" (rather than verification), in which an author presents his/her own opinions as facts, without providing sufficient evidence to back them up. For example, where is the supporting evidence the Obama "embraced" Khalikdi? I believe that Israel is entitled to exist peacefully without constant attack but that Palestinians are entitled to a better, less obstructed and more peaceful life ... More »

This news analysis is excellent journalism. The author provides factual information that is not widely available. She gives a reasonable explanation for the otherwise puzzling failure of the LA Times to release the tape it has described in its news pages.
