The system that has allowed big business to export jobs, rob retired employees of their pensions, rob consumers through usurious interest rates and shady financial instruments and grow so large and unweildy that they leveraged the entire American economy to the point where the government has had to step in to rescue them...well, it's coming to a screeching halt. This is not the first time that unregulated private interests have tried to pile all the gold in the country into a pile they alone controlled nor the first time that the government, with the support of American society at large, has had to call a halt to it. Then as now, the sound of pigs squealing when the trough is empty will be heard throughout the land. Unfortunately, then as now, the average American will sacrifice to restore prosperity and I dare say the lessons learned will be forgotten in a generation. This is not the end of free enterprise just because society is trying to reign in the greed that got us here. It amazes me that there are still some people who think that a Republican administration is good for business. The last president to submit a balanced budget as well as the last president to engineer a surplus were both Democrats.
