This opinion piece has no journalistic merit. It is a pure hate piece against the Republican candidates. The author is known for his venomous anti-religious bigotry, which explains the latter paragraphs of the piece. He does not even know that the Palins left the Pentacostal church six years ago! Bush has an outstanding record on science policy making, second only to Truman. And in fact there are numerous wasteful "science" pork projects funded every year by Congress, as McCain correctly points out.
