Early e-voting results in vote flipping in three states so far

West Virginia has had the distinct honor of being the first state in the union to report problems (surprise! surprise!) with its electronic voting systems. Factual article which includes many outbound links to other media outlets. The flipping of e-votes is indeed happening, as confirmed by many different sources. This is a very relevant must-read.

This is exactly why so many groups are advocating early voting. On election day, it will be difficult--if not impossible--to fix errors like these. But, for early votes, it might be. Since the article doesn't specify how many errors have been documented, it's difficult to say how widespread the problems might be on November 4, or what remedies affected voters might have.

The report on voting machines flipping the votes of citizens in three states is a critical story of a problem that was easily forecast.

I believe there should be an immediate cessation of all use of voting machines. All vote counting processes should be audited and software code must be open and public by law.

A subject everyone should read about. They obviously have no hope for electronic voting systems - but if the facts back up the argument then what is there to say? Plus, I think this article shows both dark sides of "voter switching". Very informative.

Huh, maybe we should just throw a dart. A frightening topic that reaffirms young people's apathy to vote.
