Concise and balanced, this article includes many stories from the recently unemployed and stats and perspective from Rhode Island leaders, economists and experts. Compelling reporting on the human side: most people profiled are hard-working heads-of-family who have never asked for public assistance before, and a couple are now being faced with run-out health insurance coverage on top of having no prospects for employment. Excellent context included explains why it's important to pay attention to Rhode Island when it comes to U.S. economic downturns and upswings. Well told and insightful.

While the term "recession" still isn't accepted fully by some as an accurate way to describe what is happening to the U.S. economy right now, you'll accept "recession" and perhaps even "depression" as a possibility after reading this piece.
