By juxtaposing quotes from McCain, T. Roosevelt and Obama the author very effectively makes a point that McCain's claim that Obama's tax proposal amounts to socialism is specious. He demonstrates that the claim is not only counter to the beliefs and actions of McCain's hero, TR, but also inconsistent with positions that McCain himself has previously taken. This is a very well constructed and written opinion piece.

There are legitimate ideological and economic discussions to be had concerning the two candidates' tax plans; however, labeling Obama's graduated plan as socialism impedes meaningful discussions.
