Other than ignoring the degree of mendacity and the proportion of attack advertizing by the two campaigns, Young manages to to advocate for a less poisonous campaign. The message would be more palatable if it identified the number of ads and statements that are lies, repeat debunked lies, are guilt by association, racist, Arab-bashing, relative to those that are issue oriented or that may be negative but raise valid points. The weak point of the article is that it comes across as wishful for a world where scoundrels do not know that negative advertizing works if you are willing to leave your ethics behind.
