Al-Qa'ida-linked website backs McCain as president

The message, posted on Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah website, said if al-Qa'ida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. While we heard a lot in 2004 about Al-Quida's preference for John Kerry, I doubt this will get much play in U.S. media outlets--even though it's an AP story. Whoever posted it is a good student of history. The collapse of the USSR is widely attributed to the financial woes caused by the arms race. In our current economic straits, it would not take much to push the US into bankruptcy either.
