It provide an insight into the growing influence of a united EU as an energy importer.

Energy is another factor that will have a major influence on the EU member states uniting under a common political and economic cause.

This is but a small piece of a much larger puzzle, and it may be a public relations plant in support of the Nabucco line for bringing Caspian Basin gas to Europe avoiding Russia. The article doesn't mention that Iran is negotiating with Turkmenistan to transport Turkemenistan gas to the Gulf for export. The article does suggest the Baltics are not concerned unduly about relying on Russian gas.

I agree Russian gas supplies to the Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are not likely to be disrupted.
