'Joe the Plumber' in media cross hairs

Tax experts were consulted and said that even if Joe could afford to buy the plumbing business, he shouldn't worry about Obama's taxes. But I grew up in a small family business, and saw what my father went through to pay this tax and that tax and the other tax and then try to pay our bills, so listening to experts reassure small business owners that they shouldn't worry when Democrats may control all of Washington made me want to laugh my head off. Kass should check his facts--even for an editorial. The liberal bastion Time magazine posted a chart that proved the economy does better under Democrats. So, while every small business struggles to pay taxes, it's easier when you have business coming in and income to pay taxes on. It's easier when the national infrastructure you depend on isn't falling apart. When banks aren't failing. And big businesses aren't sending all their business overseas. If Kass thinks the GOP has created business Nirvana, I'd like him to spend a week or so trying to run my small business in today's environment! Joe the Plumber was a plant and a distraction. And Kass knows it as well as I do.

Unfortunately, the author allows his father's lack of ability to correctly use the tax code to color his opinon. He uses a style that is condescending and picks only anecdotes that support his point of view instead of using facts that would force him to confront a different conclusion.

This opinion piece has considerable journalistic merit. Obama showed his ignorance of economic issues in speaking with Joe, and the Democratic media went off on a witch-hunt that got them caught lying about Joe repeatedly. Obama after all went up to Joe and not the other way around. Obama showed his ignorance of small business. The author could have pointed out that Obama's elitist attitude is the same that he displayed on Billionaires' Row. This incident is one reason why McCain has closed in on Obama in recent days.
