Being an individual from Kashmir and having an interest in international relations vis-a-vis kashmir i am deeply interested in the in depth analysis of all the developments that are surely to impact my place of origin and love both in longterm and short term. Full Story »

a very interesting story here, combining sen. obama's south asia policy advisor's theory re: key to future pakistan policy , with the writer's analysis of same, including its risks for pakistan's and obam's policy future. hasn't other sources nor alternate assessments from others., but reasonable sounding considerations are offered.

I can't help remembering a political cartoon that appeared in the early days of the present administration where a very puzzled George W. Bush reacted to an aide bringing him information about Kashmir with a question to the effect: "You mean all this is about sweaters?" It is interesting to consider that the most effective counter-terrorism measure might be to resolve the Kashmir situation. But what is most interesting is that a journalist with a very different frame of reference than American journalists sees so much hope in a future President Obama.

The writer seems well-informed, but I don't know enough to be sure his opinions are sound. The only biases I detect are a focus on his homeland and favoring the heightened diplomacy Obama promises.

I already agreed with Mr. Adam's views, but on a basis of less extensive knowledge.

not much...its because the report is informative but deeply mired in the bias that rests upon the highly externalised perspective of kashmir and assigns no weightage to the personal and political choices of the people caught in the conflict of not their own making

i think, kashmir can really be at the core of the transformational policy of war against terror, but the rights of the people as enshrined in the un resolutions, need to be respected and any alternative mechanism to resolve the issue must place people of J&K at the centre of any process of peacemaking that guarantees their basic human, civil and political rights.
