This interview sets out very clearly why John McCain's call for Ukraine to become part of Nato is so dangerous. Obama should also pay attention. Russia does not seek confrontation with "the West" and in fact sees itself as part of the West. Nonetheless, Russia will look after its national security concerns.

Ukraine should be a potential member of the European Union within the next ten years, but any thought of becoming a member of Nato should be dismissed.
